Below is a list of great playgroups, mother’s groups, youth groups and even men’s groups in the local area. These are a great way to meet new people, make friends and find support when you need it most.
For Young Children
Stumpys is a weekly program for children in grades 4-6 consisting of fun activities in a supportive and safe environment. We have a wonderfully diverse range of children that attend Youth Group, and we are open to all regardless of whether they attend Church or not. Stumpys also serves as an opportunity for our kids to be mentored by leaders, some of which are young people from our Youth group. All of our leaders are positive role models and work extremely hard to ensure our kids are welcomed, supported, and cared for. Transport is available for families who don’t have the ability to drive children themselves, and this can be arranged by getting in contact with us.

For Men
Grumpos is a group for older and/or retired men. They meet on the third Friday of each month for a social gathering over lunch. The group love trying out different local restaurants for these lunches, and they never visit the same place more than once per calendar year. The men will often bring a friend which is something the group encourages, and is a small outreach activity. Once per year the group also holds a special lunch for Christmas in July where men can bring along the lady in their life.

KYB is a bible study group for women that utilises study guides produced by CWCI Australia. These study guides are created by women, for women, and offer a structured way to study the bible by completing short personal studies at home during the week, and then coming together once a week to discuss and learn from each other. We have several KYB small groups here at HumeRidge that meet at two separate times in the week. Our Wednesday session includes child-minding, which is great for young mums to be able to dedicate time to meet with other women while furthering their connection to God through studying His word.
When:
- Wednesdays (during school term) 9:30am-11:30am (child-minding available) • Thursdays (during school term) 12:45pm–2:15pm (no child-minding)
Where: HumeRidge Church of Christ
Cost: $10 per term for workbook + donation towards child-minding

Homework Help is on Tuesday afternoons and is a wonderful opportunity for children in both primary and high school to come along and receive assistance with their school work. The way this works differs depending on the age of the children and their needs. If children have homework or assignments to complete, they are encouraged to bring these along and our volunteers can assist them in this. Other times children are grouped together and complete activities our volunteers create to reinforce skills they are learning at school, particularly if they have no set homework tasks to work on. Transport is available for families who don’t have the ability to drive children themselves, and this can be arranged by getting in contact with us.

Our Friday evening Youth Group is a place where high school age children can come along to socialise with one another in a structured and safe environment. We have a dedicated team of leaders who volunteer their time to organise fun and challenging activities each week. We have a wonderfully diverse range of young people that attend Youth Group, and we are open to all regardless of whether they attend Church or not. Youth Group is a big part of our outreach into the community, and often serves as a young person’s only connection to a Church. Over the years we have seen lives changed through attending Youth Group, and we believe that the work being done with our young people is a hugely important part of our ministry. Transport is available for families who don’t have the ability to drive children themselves, and this can be arranged by getting in contact with us.
